Therapy For Shoulder Pain

According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, shoulder problems prompt over 4 million people in the United States seek care for shoulder problems each year and account for over 1.5 million visits to orthopedic surgeons annually.  Shoulder pain is most often a result of aging but can be caused by repetitive overhead activities or strains due to reaching or lifting.   Conditions related to shoulder pain include Arthritis, Bursitis, Tendonitis, Rotator Cuff Issues, and Frozen Shoulder.

 

Symptoms of Shoulder Pain

  • Radiating pain

  • Clicking sound

  • Generalized pain and burning

  • Pinpoint pain and tenderness 

  • Decreased range of motion

  • Increased sensitivity to touch

 

Treatments options may include:

  • ART

  • Dry Needling

  • Manual therapy

  • Soft tissue mobilization

  • Scapula (shoulder blade) and neck assessment

  • Flexibility and postural exercises

  • Stretching and Range of motion exercises

  • Modalities including ice/heat, and electrical stimulation
